|11:37 pm - Snowpocalypse in Dallas|
I heard this word quite a few times today. It's not anything like what the east coast got, in terms of snow, but considering the area, it's still a significant amount.
Dallas has never had this much snowfall in a single day. Ever.
Last night, the NWS predicted 1-3 inches. So far, we're nearing 10 inches and it's still snowing. People have been saying that it may not let up for another 5-6 hours, as well. The record was set in the 1970's at 7.8 inches.
Today is the first time in a couple of months that I've pulled out my camera, and today was my first experience photographing snow. My roommate commented that it was neat seeing a lot of people be a kid again. We have an Oncor facility nearby with large hills around it. Local people swarmed around it with sleds (some even brought skis!). When I saw the crowd there, I felt that I had to go get photos.
Eventually, I had an issue with snow on my lens and started having trouble with focusing. My camera, I've learned last year, does not fare well in cold weather. I knew my time outside with it was very limited.
